Albert P. Holand

A. P. Holand Died Saturday.  Had Lived in Grand Forks For About 30 Years; Born in Norway.  A. P. Holand, 63 [should be 64], died at the home of G. I. Gulliksen, 712 South Third street, Saturday evening (March 12, 1927) about 8 o’clock.  He had been in Grand Forks for about 30 years, coming here from Fergus Falls.  He was born in Norway but lived in America since he was a young man.  Up until five years ago he operated a photo gallery here, but since that time he had devoted his time to his real estate interests.  His only surviving relatives are a half-brother, Peter Holand, in McKinley, Minn., a nephew in New York, and a sister in Norway.  Funeral services will not be arranged until his brother arrives.  (Grand Forks Herald, Sunday, March 13, 1927, Volume XLVI, Number 114, Page 11)

  • A. P. Holand Services To Be Thursday.  Funeral services for A. P. Holand, who died Saturday, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Scandinavian Methodist church, Rev. Paul Haugen and G. I. Gulliksen officiating.  The body is to lie in state this afternoon and evening in the Hanson-Anderson Mortuary.  Mr. Holand was born October 4, 1862 in Helgeland, Norway.  He came to this country in 1883, settling first at Sauk Center, Minn.  Three years later he began as a photographer at Fergus Falls under the firm name of Overland and Holand.  He also spent a year as a photographer in Crookston before coming to Grand Forks in 1891, and later spent one year in Butte, Mont.  During most of his residence here he operated a photograph studio on South Third street, retiring from that business eight years ago to devote his time to his real estate holdings.  Besides his brother, Peter Holand of McKinley, Minn., and one sister, Kristina Andreassen in Norway, five nephews and one niece survive.  (Grand Forks Herald, Wednesday, March 16, 1927, Volume XLVI, Number 116, Page 5)
